Faith & Sexuality in an Open-Source World (Audio)

How can Christians engage in constructive conversations about sexuality and sexual ethics when we experience diversity and division? With commitments to both soul competency and local-church autonomy, Baptists are uniquely positioned to address these tough questions through the processes of dialogue and discernment. In this workshop, given at the 2017 General Assembly of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, language scholar Shawn Warner-Garcia and Baptist journalist Greg Warner led an interactive presentation covering:

  • a brief history of how we think about faith, sexuality, and marriage
  • recent research on the intersections of faith and sexuality among Baptists
  • an overview of a new collaborative project to produce resources on sexual ethics by and for Baptists
  • a dialogic discussion with workshop participants about how to engage in conversations about sexuality in their own faith communities
